This is obviously disturbing news, but I still felt that it is important to share. Based on a crime statistics report released last Tuesday, UofM saw a 150% increase in reports of rape or sexual assault on campus. I was shocked that the number of cases doubled. Then I realized there is a silver lining in the story. Due to national awareness and the #MeToo movement, women are feeling more empowered than ever to speak out if they are assaulted. Obviously, there is still lots of progress to be made in order for women to feel completely safe. Any amount of sexual assault cases is too many. What do you think the UofM administration needs to do in order to address the problem? Or is there someone else who needs to take action?
