Prom: Discrimination or Religious Liberty?

There have been several stories over the past several years of LGBT students being denied the ability to attend prom with their date because they are of the same gender.

In many cases, as one can read about here, this has occurred at private, religious schools which claim such couples would violate the schools religious and moral codes. While the debate for same-sex marriage has been settled by the Supreme Court, instances of religious exemptions of performing activities or services for gay people is still in question.

When it comes to the ability for gay students to take their dates to prom, should schools be legally allowed to enforce a standard based on gender and sexuality?
