Marijuana will officially become legal early next month in the state of Michigan. Younger voters rallied to the ballots in order to vote on this issue. Now citizens 21 and older in the state of Michigan will be permitted to legally smoke weed. This law has brought much discussion to college campuses. Officials at universities across the state have stated that smoking marijuana will still be prohibited on college campuses.

Michigan Legalizes Marijuana

Yesterday, Michigan voters voted to legalized Marijuana. Will this change in legislation impact students for better or worse? How can we ensure that it does not impact their performance in school?

Alex Kubie (TC)'s picture

The 2018 Midterm elections will be held this coming Tuesday, and many people - as often occurs this time of year - are questioning whether the youth of our state - and nation - will turn out to vote.

Trump's Controversial Campaign Advertisement

Jonathan Green's picture

Yesterday, on October 31, 2018 Donald Trump released yet another controversial tweet( seen above) in his latest call to vote republican before next weeks midterms. Below are two different articles on the advertisement, one from conservatively leaning USA Today and a left leaning Huffington Post article. Both articles disagree with his actions in this tweet yet it is interesting that USA Today tries to justify those actions in the end.

Megyn Kelly

Austin Gould TC's picture

"On a Tuesday morning segment on “Megyn Kelly Today,” Kelly compared blackface to other non-racially charged costumes, implying that the practice of darkening one’s skin as part of any Halloween outfit wasn’t an inherently racist practice. Kelly issued an email apology later Tuesday morning."

Trump's Response to Pittsburgh shooting

Michael Sands's picture

President Trump came out with a series of comments Saturday after the fatal shootings in a Pittsburgh synagogue.

He said that the shooting could have been stopped if there was an armed guard inside the synagogue. He also that people should get the death penalty after mass shootings like Pittsburgh's. Over the past decade, we have seen an increase in the amount of mass public shootings.

What are the implications of placing armed guards inside places of worship?

Trump's Decision to Void Birthright Citizenship

Bryan Carbone's picture

Today, President Trump made a very uncharacteristic move, one that thousands of people had hoped would never be made.  This morning, President Trump signed an executive order to void the birthright citizenship law, which would effectively make people born in the US whose parents are non US citizens illegal immigrants.

Through this executive order, Trump is basically trying to abolish the 14th amendment without actually going through that process.  Do you believe that this is legal?

How will this affect the midterms and the rest of his administration?
