Misinformation Causes A $10 Million Hole In Michigan's Department of Corrections Budget

The Department of Corrections was prohibited by the governor to communicate with any office about the budget this past summer. This resulted in the Legislature being completely uninformed about a $10 million defecit in the education line item of the corrections budget after a bank account balance related to the budget was overstated. What problems could this cause for the Department of Corrections? How could this situation have been avoided? What can our government learn from this in the future?
