This article discusses the failing education system that the state of Michigan has. It mentions how Michigan students in k-12 are struggling to perform on tests and how the average test score in Michigan is lower than almost all other states. This is extremely concerning to those with kids growing up in this school system as their averages are consistently lower than other states.
Not only is this affecting their learning, but many people are struggling to find jobs due to their lack of knowledge and education. Nearly 7% of those with a high school diploma remain unemployed. With this floundering school system, it begs the question with what can we do to help? Does it need more funding? Are new teachers necessary? Why are other states performing better? I am interested to hear everyone's thoughts.
