(Please read to the end -- if you are reading this on the MSC site, be sure to click "Read more.")
First, a reminder: The deadline for the syllabus quiz is Tuesday, January 28--one week from today.
Second, thanks to all who have contributed to the Provocations discussions so far. By now you should be actively participating in discussions around the Provocations and you should have posted a Provocation of your own. If you haven’t, see the Provocations group description for guidelines. Keep in mind that the absolute minimum requirement for participation is multiple posts on at least 3 days per week. If you have not been meeting that minimum, there’s no time to lose -- start immediately.
Third, we have listed several "Counts as a Town Hall" events. All EDUC 362 students must attend at least 2 such events during the semester, and do not delay -- it's much more useful to go to these now as you are exploring issues, and while we plan to list more, there's no guarantee that there will be events available in the later part of the semester. Please read the event descriptions carefully for details and advance readings, and be sure to click the "attend" button if you plan to go.
Fourth, your Topic Coordinators (Cassie, Casey, and Brandon) will be emailing you to schedule TC office hours. Attendance is not mandatory but strongly encouraged, so please respond when you hear from them.
Finally, you should be reaching out to service organizations from the approved service opportunities list and arranging to do at least 10 hours of activity with that organization. Please contact the organizations directly and schedule service based on your availability and their needs. (We try to keep the list updated, but not all organizations may be taking volunteers right now.) Your service activity should begin no later than February 3, and you should have the bulk of your hours completed by mid-March, if at all possible, so that your experiences can inform your proposal. You will report on your plans in a “service check-in” (due February 7), and in your final portfolio.
