Educators have taken notice of how 3D printers are transforming engineering across a multitude of consumer markets. Thus, administrators and educational experts have been looking to include them within their curriculums. Companies such as Markerbot have developed software to provide lesson plans using this new technology. MakerBot’s “Thingiverse Education” is a platform with hundreds of lesson plans for classroom implementation. This allows for students to engage in real world project-based learning.
Have you ever used such advanced technology as a supplement to in-class instruction? If so, how effective was that experience? If not, do you think implementing this technology into the education system could boost either student engagement or academic performance?
