AP/IB Testing in High Schools

After doing some research, I found that there is a large racial gap in honors and AP classes. For example, "Black and Latino students make up 37 percent of high school students but only 18 percent of students passing AP exams". Minority students are also less likely to go to high schools that offer college prep curriculum.

Additionally, while there is an increase in minorities taking AP classes and exams, there is also an increase in the scoring gap between caucasians and minority groups. Minority students' scores are on average, lower than caucasian students and lower than the national averages as well. How do you suppose we aim to fix this issue?

How can we make AP testing more accessible to students who maybe cannot afford the testing fee?
